Curome Cox, born on February 28, 1981, is a former American football player. He used to play as a safety. Today, he is a coach for the Virginia Cavaliers. He helps coach the defensive backs and coordinates the passing game for the defense. He has been in this coaching role since 2022.
Cox started his professional playing career in 2004. He was signed by the Atlanta Falcons even though he was not picked in the draft. Before that, he played college football at the University of Maryland. During his playing career, he was also part of the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and New Orleans Saints teams.

Early Life and College Football
Curome Cox grew up and went to high school in Washington, D.C. He attended Gonzaga College High School. After high school, he continued his football journey at the University of Maryland. Playing for the Maryland Terrapins helped him prepare for a career in professional football.
Professional Football Career
Curome Cox played for several teams in the NFL. He was known for his role as a safety. A safety is a defensive player who helps stop the opposing team's passes and runs.
Playing for the Denver Broncos
Cox joined the Denver Broncos in 2004. During his time with the Broncos, he made some important plays. In one game against the San Diego Chargers, he made an interception. This is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player.
Because some other players were injured, Curome Cox became a starting safety for the Broncos. He played alongside another famous safety, John Lynch. Cox played for the Broncos until November 6, 2007, when he was released from the team.
Time with the Houston Texans
After leaving the Broncos, Curome Cox signed with the Houston Texans on November 13, 2007. He played for the Texans for a short period. The Texans released him on June 13, 2008.
Joining the New Orleans Saints
On July 30, 2008, Cox signed with the New Orleans Saints. This was his last known team as a professional player.

After his playing career, Curome Cox moved into coaching. He has coached at several colleges, helping young players develop their skills.
