Curtis G. Maddox (born August 10, 1935 – died August 21, 2018) was an important coach in American football and basketball. He spent many years helping young athletes play their best.
Maddox was the main football coach at two different colleges. First, he coached at Mississippi Valley State College from 1966 to 1967. This school is now known as Mississippi Valley State University. After that, he coached at Norfolk State University from 1968 to 1971. His total record as a college football coach was 17 wins, 33 losses, and 1 tie.
Besides football, Maddox also coached basketball. He was the head basketball coach at Mississippi Valley State for one season, in 1962–63. At that time, the school was called Mississippi Vocational College.
Later in his life, Curtis Maddox worked in business. He was the CEO and president of a company called Cutron General Contractors, Inc. He also served as the vice president for operations at Norfolk State University. He passed away on August 21, 2018.
