Curtis Santiago (born in 1979) is a talented Canadian artist from Edmonton, Alberta, who is known for both his music and his visual art. As a musician, he creates exciting dance-rock and soul songs. As a visual artist, his paintings, sculptures, and other creations are shown in famous museums all over the world, like the New Museum in New York City.
Over the years, Santiago has lived and worked in many different cities, including Toronto, New York, and Lisbon, Portugal. He is currently based in Munich, Germany.
Musical Journey
Curtis Santiago's music career began in the late 1990s in Edmonton. He was part of a soul band called the Hi-Phoniqs. In 2002, he decided to move to Vancouver to start a solo career. There, he also worked as an MC (Master of Ceremonies) in clubs, getting crowds excited for the music.
His talent was recognized in 2003 when he won a CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award. He also started a new group called Vendetta Republic. In 2007, he teamed up with guitarist Mikey Schlosser, and they moved to Toronto to make music together.
In 2009, Santiago released a mixtape called Have Mercy. A mixtape is a collection of songs, similar to an album. Most of the songs were produced by a group called SkullKrushers.

Career in Visual Arts
Later in his career, Santiago began to focus more on creating visual art. His artwork includes paintings, large installations, sculptures, and tiny scenes inside small boxes called dioramas. These dioramas often show memories from his childhood growing up in a Caribbean-Canadian family.
Common themes in his art are dancing, parties, and references to his music career. He also includes ideas from history and art history in his work.
Santiago's art is highly respected and is part of the permanent collection at the Studio Museum in Harlem in New York. His work has been displayed in many important places, including:
