History of Cynthiana
Cynthiana got its name from a town in Kentucky called Cynthiana, Kentucky. On September 25, 1815, a group of 44 settlers came from that Kentucky town to this area. More people from the same place moved here over the next few years.
Founding the Town
On March 6, 1817, a person named William Davis officially planned out the town. The plan was recorded just a few days later, on March 17, 1817. However, Cynthiana didn't become an official, incorporated town until much later, on April 22, 1896.
A post office has been open in Cynthiana since 1820. This means people have been sending and receiving mail there for a very long time!
