Douglas James Kennington (born July 15, 1977), known as D. J. Kennington, is a professional stock car racing driver from Canada. He races full-time in the NASCAR Canada Series with his own team, DJK Racing, driving the No. 17 Dodge Challenger. He won the Canada Series championships in 2010 and 2012. Kennington has also raced part-time in other major NASCAR series, like the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. His father, Doug Kennington, was also a race car driver and started St. Thomas Raceway Park.

D. J. Kennington's Racing Journey
D. J. Kennington has had an exciting career in different types of stock car racing. He is best known for his success in Canadian NASCAR races.
Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series

Kennington made his debut in the top NASCAR series, the Sprint Cup Series, in 2016 at Phoenix International Raceway. In 2017, he joined a new team, Gaunt Brothers Racing, to compete in the famous Daytona 500. He qualified well, but unfortunately, he was caught in a big crash during the race.
In 2018, Kennington returned to Gaunt Brothers Racing. At a race in Bristol, he drove a special car to honor the Humboldt Broncos bus crash victims, a sad event that happened in Canada. He finished 27th in that race, and the car's hood was later sold to raise money for charity. He also raced for Premium Motorsports and Spire Motorsports in the Cup Series.
Competing in the Xfinity Series
From 2007 to 2009, Kennington raced part-time in the Nationwide Series (now called the Xfinity Series). He competed in over 30 races. His best finish in this series was 11th place at a race in Montreal in 2010. He raced for teams like MacDonald Motorsports and Team Rensi Motorsports.
Truck Series Adventures
In 2010, Kennington also started racing in the Camping World Truck Series. He finished 17th in his very first Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway. He returned to the Truck Series in 2013 and again in 2016, racing for different teams. In 2019, he filled in for another driver at a race in Mosport.
Dominating the Pinty's Series
Kennington is most famous for his success in the NASCAR Canada Series, which is now called the Pinty's Series. He started racing there in 2007 with his No. 17 Castrol car.
- Early Success: In 2007, he won two races and finished second in the overall points standings.
- Championship Wins: He won his first NASCAR championship in 2010. He had an amazing year, winning five races and taking home the title. He then won his second championship in 2012. That year was incredible, as he won a record-breaking five races in a row! He ended up with seven wins that season.
- Continued Strong Performance: Even after his championships, Kennington continued to be a top driver. He won races in 2013 and 2018, showing his lasting skill. In 2020, he won another race at Jukasa Motor Speedway. He also had two wins in 2021 at Delaware Speedway and another win in 2022 at Sutherland Automotive Speedway. He consistently finishes in the top positions, showing his talent and experience.
Racing in CASCAR
Before the NASCAR Canada Series began, Kennington raced in the CASCAR Super Series. He started in 1998 and raced full-time until 2006. NASCAR later bought CASCAR and created the Canadian Tire Series. During his time in CASCAR, Kennington won 7 races and had 38 top-five finishes. His best championship result was finishing second overall in 2002.
Hooters Procup Series
In 2004 and 2005, D. J. Kennington also raced part-time in the USAR Hooters Procup Series. He was both the owner and driver for his team, DJK Racing.
