D. J. Kennington's Racing Journey
Racing in Top NASCAR Series

Kennington made his first start in the Sprint Cup Series in 2016. He raced at Phoenix and finished 35th. In 2017, he joined a new team, Gaunt Brothers Racing, for the Daytona 500. He qualified well but was caught in a big crash during the race.
In 2018, Kennington returned to Gaunt Brothers Racing. At the Bristol race, he used a special paint scheme to honor the Humboldt Broncos bus crash victims. He finished 27th, and the hood of his car was later sold to raise money for charity. In 2019, he raced for Spire Motorsports.
Kennington also competed in the Nationwide Series (now Xfinity Series) for several years. He had over 30 starts in this series. His best finish was 11th place in a race in Montreal in 2010. He also raced in the Camping World Truck Series (now Gander Outdoors Truck Series). In 2010, he finished 17th in his first Truck Series race at Martinsville. He continued to race in this series occasionally, with a best finish of 12th in 2018 at Mosport.
Success in the Pinty's Series
Kennington has had great success in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, now known as the Pinty's Series. In 2007, he won two races and finished second in the championship points. He continued to be a top contender, finishing second again in 2009.
The year 2010 was a big one for Kennington. He won five races, including a thrilling victory at Autodrome Saint-Eustache where he passed two drivers on the last lap. He also earned several pole positions, meaning he started the race from the very front. His strong performance led him to win his first NASCAR championship.
In 2012, Kennington had an amazing season, winning a record five races in a row! He won a total of seven races that year, which helped him secure his second series championship. After a few years without a win, he returned to victory lane at Jukasa Motor Speedway in 2018. He has continued to be a strong competitor in the series, winning races in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Early Racing Days
Before joining NASCAR, Kennington raced in the CASCAR Super Series. He started in 1998 and raced full-time until 2006. During his time in CASCAR, he won 7 races and finished in the top 5 many times. His best championship finish was second place in 2002. He also raced part-time in the USAR Hooters Procup Series in 2004 and 2005.
