What is D. L. Bliss State Park?
D. L. Bliss State Park is a protected area where people can enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. It's managed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. This means the park is kept safe and clean for everyone to explore and learn about nature.
History of the Park
The park is named after a man named Duane Leroy Bliss. He was a very successful businessman who worked with timber (wood) and railroads a long time ago. In 1929, his family decided to donate a large piece of land, about 744 acres (which is like 560 football fields!), to the state of California. This generous gift helped create the park we know today. Since then, the park has grown even bigger, now covering about 2,149 acres.
Cool Features to Explore

Another popular attraction is a giant balancing rock. This amazing rock looks like it's perfectly balanced on a smaller base. It's a natural wonder that has been shaped by nature over thousands of years. You can find it along a popular trail that winds through the forest near the lake. It's a fun spot for photos and to wonder how nature can create such incredible things!
