DC Shoes, Inc. is an American company that makes cool shoes for action sports. They are famous for their footwear for skateboarding and snowboarding. DC Shoes also creates clothes, bags, hats, and other accessories.

The Story of DC Shoes

DC Shoes was started in June 1994 by three friends: Damon Way, Ken Block, and Clayton Blehm. The company first began in Carlsbad, California. Later, it moved to Huntington Beach, California, where it is now.

How DC Shoes Began

The name "DC" originally came from "Droors Clothing." However, Droors Clothing was sold in 2004. After that, DC Shoes became its own brand, known simply as DC Shoes, Inc.

Joining Quiksilver

In 2004, a big surf company called Quiksilver bought DC Shoes. This was a major step for the brand. In 2010, DC Shoes moved its offices to Quiksilver's main building in Huntington Beach.

Skateboarding Videos and Teams

DC Shoes has always supported skateboarders. In 2010, they released a video called Skateboarding Is Forever. It showed many talented skateboarders. Most of these athletes later became professional skateboarders for DC Shoes.

In 2011, DC Shoes updated its brand with a new flag logo. They also added new skateboarders to their team. Famous names like Nyjah Huston and Chris Cole joined the team. This helped the brand connect with more young people.

A Sad Loss

One of the founders, Ken Block, sadly passed away in January 2023. He was involved in a snowmobile accident.

Recent Changes

In February 2025, the company that owned DC Shoes retail stores faced financial difficulties. They announced that all remaining DC Shoes stores would close. However, DC Shoes as a brand continues to operate under a different parent company.
