Robert Stanley Dyrdek (born June 28, 1974) is an American entrepreneur, actor, and producer. He is also a well-known TV personality and a former professional skateboarder. Many people know him from MTV shows like Rob & Big, Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, and Ridiculousness. Rob Dyrdek has also started many businesses. He created companies like Street League Skateboarding and Superjacket Productions.

Early life and skateboarding beginnings
Rob Dyrdek was born on June 28, 1974. His hometown is Kettering, Ohio. As a child, he loved sports. He started skateboarding when he was 11 years old. Rob was very focused on becoming a pro skateboarder. He would think about tricks all day at school. Then, he would skate until he had to go inside. He went to Fairmont High School in Kettering.
Rob Dyrdek's career journey
Becoming a pro skateboarder and starting businesses (1986–2005)
At age 11, Rob got his first sponsorship. It was from Surf Ohio, a local skate shop. He started competing in contests at 12. A national brand, Gordon and Smith Skateboard Company (G&S), also sponsored him. In 1989, at 15, he won a big competition.
When he was 16, Rob moved to Southern California. He wanted to focus on his skateboarding career. He became a professional skateboarder in 1991. That year, he competed in Germany. He also appeared in a skate video called Memory Screen. Another company, Alien Workshop, started sponsoring him. They made skateboards with his name on them. At 17, Rob also started his own company, Orion Trucks.
By 1995, Rob was traveling the world. He competed and performed in many countries. Around this time, DC Shoes started sponsoring him. He launched his first signature shoe with DC. This began a 20-year partnership. He designed 29 different shoes with them. In 1999, Rob started his first big business, Dyrdek Enterprises.
In 2000, Rob placed sixth at the X Games in San Francisco. In 2003, he started another company, Silver Trucks. In 2005, he helped design the world's first skate plaza. It was in his hometown of Kettering. This park was called the Rob Dyrdek/DC Shoes Skate Plaza. It looked like a city street with stairs and railings. This was the first park funded by his foundation.
Becoming a TV star on MTV (2006–2009)
In 2006, Rob's first MTV show, Rob & Big, began. It starred Rob, his best friend Christopher "Big Black" Boykin, and his cousin Chris "Drama" Pfaff. The show came from a skit Rob made for a skate video. In the skit, he hired Big Black as a bodyguard. The show followed their daily adventures.
In 2007, during Rob & Big, Rob set 21 skateboarding world records. He did this in just one day! Some records included the longest board slide. He also had the highest skateboard ramp jump into water. The show ended in 2008 after three seasons.
In 2009, Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory started. This show featured Rob, Chris Pfaff, and his team. It was set in Rob's "Fantasy Factory." This was a huge warehouse where Rob ran his businesses. He even built a recording studio there. In the first season, he opened his first SafeSpot SkateSpot. The mayor of Los Angeles rode the world's largest skateboard with Rob.
Fantasy Factory ran for seven seasons. The final episode aired in 2014. In that episode, Rob set another world record. He made the longest reverse ramp jump by a car. The show had many stunts. Rob was bitten by a shark and attacked by a tiger. He also did the first kickflip with a Chevrolet Sonic car. He even helped invent a "skateboard car."
Rob also bought a racehorse in 2009. The horse, Mega Heat, won its first race with Rob as the jockey. Rob owned as many as 13 horses at one time.
New shows and Street League Skateboarding (2010–2016)
In 2010, Rob started Street League Skateboarding (SLS). This was a professional skateboarding competition series. It offered the biggest prize money in skateboarding history. The championship was shown on ESPN in many countries. SLS also worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. They built new skate parks in California. A documentary about SLS, The Motivation, came out in 2013. SLS is now a global series with events worldwide.
In 2011, Rob's third MTV show, Ridiculousness, premiered. Rob hosts the show with his friends Chanel West Coast and Steelo Brim. They watch and comment on funny internet videos. By 2020, Ridiculousness was on MTV almost all the time.
In 2012, Rob's cartoon show, Wild Grinders, started on Nicktoons. Rob created and produced the show. He also voiced the main character, Lil' Rob. The characters were based on toys Rob designed.
Also in 2012, Rob's company bought DNA Distribution. This company owned Alien Workshop, his first skateboarding sponsor. In 2014, Rob's production company, Superjacket Productions, made a deal with MTV. They would keep producing Ridiculousness. Rob also produced a cooking show called Snack-Off.
Superjacket Productions created many new shows. In 2016, two shows, Jagger Eaton's Mega Life and Crashletes, started on Nickelodeon. He also produced The Dude Perfect Show.
Building businesses with Dyrdek Machine (2016–present)
In 2016, Rob started the Dyrdek Machine. This company helps new businesses grow. Rob calls it a "venture studio." He had already invested in companies like UFC. Through Dyrdek Machine, he has helped start many brands. These include Lusso Cloud and Mindright. By 2022, he had helped start or partner with 18 brands.
Rob also kept creating TV shows. In 2017, he produced Amazingness for MTV. It was a talent competition show. In 2020, Rob's Street League Skateboarding and Superjacket Productions merged. They joined with Nitro Circus to form Thrill One Sports & Entertainment. Rob's companies became part of Thrill One.
Later in 2020, Rob produced Deliciousness for MTV. It was a food-based clip show. Superjacket Productions became Thrill One Media in 2021. Two more Ridiculousness spin-offs came out that year. These were Messyness and Adorableness. Rob was an executive producer for them.
In 2021, Rob started a podcast called Build with Rob. He also started a non-profit group. It's called the Do-Or-Dier Visionary Foundation. It helps young people learn about starting businesses. In 2022, Thrill One Sports & Entertainment was bought for $300 million. Rob also invested more money in Thrill One at that time.
Personal life
Rob Dyrdek has one sister. In 2011, Rob became a minister. He did this to perform his sister's wedding. The wedding was shown on Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. It took place at the Fantasy Factory in Los Angeles. Rob got engaged to his girlfriend, Bryiana Noelle Flores, at Disneyland. They are now married and have two children.
