Samuel Bouriah (born October 19, 1969), known as DJ Sammy, is a Spanish DJ and music producer. He has released five albums and had many songs reach the top 10 on music charts. One of his most famous songs is his cover of Bryan Adams' "Heaven". This song became number one in the UK in 2002. He started his career working with singer Marie-José van der Kolk. They released their first songs together as DJ Sammy featuring Carisma.

DJ Sammy's Music Journey

DJ Sammy began his music journey in 1984. He started by playing music in pubs and dance clubs in Mallorca, Spain. During this time, he also learned how to be a sound technician. This means he learned about how sound equipment works.

In 1991, he met Marie-José van der Kolk, who was a dancer. They performed together at a club called Zorba's Club. The next year, in 1992, DJ Sammy became a regular DJ at the Joy Palace Club. Marie-José was also a dancer there.

First Songs and Albums

In November 1995, DJ Sammy released his first song, "Life Is Just a Game". Marie-José started singing on this track. The song became a top 10 hit in Spain. Other songs like "You're My Angel" and "Prince of Love" were popular in Germany.

In June 1998, DJ Sammy released his first album, also called Life Is Just a Game.

Creating His Own Label

DJ Sammy then started his own music company called Super M Records. He also created the Gamba Music Company.

In 2002, he released his album Heaven. This album included popular songs like "Sunlight". It also featured his famous cover songs: "Heaven" with singer Do, and "The Boys of Summer" by Don Henley.

His next album, The Rise, came out in 2005. It had songs like "Rise Again". This song was even used in a movie soundtrack for It's All Gone Pete Tong. He also covered Annie Lennox's song "Why".

Working with Other Artists

In 2007, DJ Sammy worked with famous singer Enrique Iglesias. He remixed Iglesias's song "Tired of Being Sorry". After this, he also produced and helped write "Superstar" for Marta Sánchez. This song became a big hit for her.

He also worked on a song called "Aquí Ahora" for David Bisbal's album Premonición. DJ Sammy also helped with Soraya Arnelas's album, Sin Miedo.

He went on a world tour called the Balearic Masters tour in late 2007. He brought along a new singer named Nyah. She sang on his songs "Everybody Hurts", "Feel the Love", "Animal", and "Look for Love".

In June 2013, DJ Sammy released a song called "Shut Up and Kiss Me". The music video for this song was uploaded to YouTube. In July 2020, he released "This Is Who We Are" with Australian singer Chloe Martin.

About His Family

Samuel Bouriah has a daughter named Saphira María. She was born on February 10, 2005. Her mother is Marie-José van der Kolk, who also sings under the name Firefox with their daughter.
