Da Grassroots was a Canadian hip-hop group from Toronto, Ontario. It was made up of three talented members: Mr. Attic, Mr. Murray, and Swiff. This group helped shape the sound of Toronto hip-hop music in the 1990s. They even won a Juno Award, which is a big music award in Canada! Their first album, Passage Through Time, came out in 1999 and was very important for them.
In 1994, Da Grassroots appeared in a documentary film called Make Some Noise. This film showed different parts of the Canadian hip-hop scene.
After their album became popular, each member started working on their own projects. Mr. Attic helped start a record label called Choice Cut Records. Mr. Murray produced music for a group called LAL. Swiff also produced music for artists on their own label, Black Employed Records.
Sadly, Swiff passed away on July 31, 2018, at the age of 47.
