Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (often shortened to DNHDD) is a special part of India called a union territory. It's located in the western part of the country.
This union territory was formed by joining two older union territories: Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The idea to merge them was announced in July 2019. India's Parliament passed the law in December 2019, and the new union territory officially began on January 26, 2020.

A Glimpse into History
For a long time, all four of these areas were part of Portuguese India. This means they were ruled by Portugal for many years.
In the middle of the 20th century, these areas became part of India. This happened after India gained its independence.
