Da Fang (simplified Chinese: 顶谷大方; traditional Chinese: 頂谷大方; pinyin: dǐng gǔ dà fāng) is a special kind of green tea from China. It is sometimes called Zhupu Da Fang or Zhuye Da Fang. Some tea experts in China believe it is one of the country's top ten teas!
Da Fang tea looks a lot like another famous tea called Longjing tea. Both have flat, sharp leaves and are made in similar ways. Many experts think Da Fang tea might even be an ancestor of Longjing tea. It is widely believed that Da Fang tea was the first tea to have flat leaves.
Where Da Fang Tea Comes From
Da Fang tea is grown in Anhui Province, China. You can find it near the Lao Zhuling (Chinese: 老竹岭; pinyin: Lǎo Zhúlǐng) and Fu Guanshan (Chinese: 福全山; pinyin: Fú Quánshān) mountains. These mountains are in She County (Chinese: 歙县; pinyin: Shè Xiàn).
What Makes Da Fang Tea Special?
When Da Fang tea leaves are dried, they become a yellowish-green color. They are sleek and flat. The tea buds are often hidden and covered with a fine golden fuzz.
When you brew Da Fang tea, it creates a drink with a lasting, pleasant smell. It also leaves a sweet taste in your mouth after you drink it.
Different Kinds of Da Fang Tea
