Dairy is a small place in Klamath County, Oregon, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
A Look Back in Time
Dairy got its name from a man named William Roberts. He was an early settler who came to the area a long time ago. He named it "Dairy" because he used to live in another place with the same name in the eastern United States. William Roberts also became the first postmaster here in 1876. A postmaster is the person in charge of a post office.
This area was once known as Alkali Valley. Later, its name was changed to Yonna Valley. Yonna is a word from the Klamath language, which is spoken by the Klamath people, a Native American tribe.
Dairy also had a train station. It was on the Oregon, California and Eastern Railway line. This railway connected Klamath Falls to Bly by 1927. After 1990, the train tracks near Dairy were turned into a special path called the OC&E Woods Line State Trail. This trail is now managed by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It's a great place for walking or biking where trains once ran.
Where is Dairy Located?
Dairy is located along Oregon Route 140. This road is at the west end of Oregon Route 70. It is about 19 miles (31 km) away from Klamath Falls. The city of Bonanza is about 7 miles (11 km) to the southeast. Bonanza is at the other end of Route 70, which is also known as the Dairy–Bonanza Highway.
What is the Climate Like?

This type of climate is often called "Csb" on climate maps. It means the area has hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters.
