Dale is a small community in Caldwell County, Texas, United States. It is an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. About 500 people lived there in 2000. Dale is located within the larger Greater Austin area.
History of Dale, Texas
Dale was named after the valley it sits in. A railroad called the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad came to Dale in 1880. That same year, the town got its own post office.
Within five years, about 75 people lived in Dale. The community had three stores, a mill for grinding grain, and a cotton gin. A cotton gin is a machine that separates cotton fibers from their seeds.
By 1914, Dale's population grew to 250 people, and there were 15 businesses. However, the population later decreased to 200 between 1925 and 1943. A map from 1936 showed several homes, two churches, and various businesses in the community.
Dale's population reached its highest point in 1947 with 275 residents. After that, it went down to 126 people from 1970 to the early 1990s. At that time, it still had 14 businesses. In 2000, the population was estimated to be 500. By 2010, it had returned to 126 residents.

Geography of Dale
Dale is located along Farm to Market Road 1854. It is about 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Lockhart, Texas. Dale is in the north-central part of Caldwell County, Texas.
The community is also about 16 miles (26 km) southwest of Bastrop. It is 32 miles (51 km) southeast of Austin.
Education in Dale
In 1905, Dale had a school with 112 students and two teachers. A county map from 1936 showed that there were two schools in the area. Today, students in Dale attend schools in the Lockhart Independent School District.
