Early Life and Youth Hockey
Dale Craigwell was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. When he was young, he loved playing hockey. In 1984, he played in the famous Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. He was part of a minor ice hockey team from Oshawa. This tournament is a big event for young hockey players from all over the world.
Starting His Professional Career
Dale was chosen by the San Jose Sharks in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He was picked in the 10th round, as the 199th player overall. This was a special moment because he was the 11th player ever drafted by the Sharks team. Before joining the NHL, Dale played for three years with the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League. In his last year with the Generals, he scored an impressive 95 points in 56 games.
Time with the San Jose Sharks
Dale Craigwell joined the San Jose Sharks during their very first season in the NHL, which was 1991–1992. He was called up to play in the middle of that season. He played in 32 games and scored 16 points, which included goals and assists.
The 1993–1994 season was Dale's first full year playing for the Sharks. During this time, he mostly played in a defensive role. He scored 9 points that season. The next year, he had an ankle injury and could not play at all during the 1994–1995 season.
Playing in Other Leagues
After his time with the Sharks, Dale Craigwell continued his hockey career in other leagues. He played for the Kansas City Blades in the IHL for three years. The IHL was a professional hockey league that is no longer active.
Later, Dale moved to Europe to play hockey. He spent one year playing in Germany and then two years playing in England. He retired from professional hockey after the 2000–2001 season.
