Dallas is a small town, also called a borough, located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,692 people lived there. The local government proudly calls Dallas the "Pride" of the Back Mountain area.
The Back Mountain is a larger region in northern Luzerne County. It includes Dallas and other towns like Harveys Lake. You can also find Misericordia University and the Dallas State Correctional Institution nearby.

History of Dallas
Dallas was first settled by people in 1797. It officially became a borough on April 21, 1879. This happened when land from Dallas Township was used to create the new borough.
The township itself was formed in 1817. It was named after Alexander J. Dallas. He was an important person who served as the 6th United States Secretary of the Treasury. His son, George M. Dallas, later became the Vice President of the United States.
Geography and Location
Dallas is located at 41°20′0″N 75°58′0″W / 41.33333°N 75.96667°W.
The borough covers about 2.4 square miles (6.19 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 2.3 square miles (5.96 square kilometers). A small part, about 0.1 square miles (0.22 square kilometers), is water.
Most of Dallas is developed with buildings and roads. However, you can still find small areas of forests. Two main roads, PA 309 and PA 415, pass through the northern and eastern parts of Dallas. The Huntsville Reservoir forms the southwestern edge of the community. Dallas is surrounded by Dallas Township on three sides, and Lehman Township is to its west.
