Damian William Jones was born on June 30, 1995. He is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
Damian played college basketball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Golden State Warriors picked him in the first round of the 2016 NBA draft. He was the 30th player chosen overall. Jones has won two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018.

High School Basketball Journey
Damian Jones went to Scotlandville Magnet High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During his senior year, he was a great player. He scored about 15.4 points and grabbed 8.0 rebounds per game. He also blocked 4.0 shots and made 2.0 assists.
Experts at Rivals.com thought he was a top player. He decided to play college basketball at Vanderbilt University.
College Basketball Success
Damian played for Vanderbilt for three seasons. He averaged 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He also had 1.69 blocks per game. He played in 99 games, averaging 27.2 minutes each game.
He was named to the First-team All-SEC twice. This happened in both his sophomore and junior years. He made 56.6 percent of his shots from the field. This is the third-best record in Vanderbilt's history. He also finished second in the school's all-time blocks list with 167 blocks.
In his junior year (2015–16), Damian averaged 13.9 points and 6.9 rebounds. He also had 1.64 blocks in 33 games. He helped Vanderbilt get into the NCAA Tournament. This was their first time since 2011–12.
On April 14, 2016, Jones decided to enter the NBA draft. This meant he would not play his final year of college basketball.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting with the Golden State Warriors (2016–2019)
Before the draft, Damian Jones hurt his right arm. He tore a muscle while working out for the Orlando Magic. He needed surgery for this injury. Even with the injury, the Golden State Warriors chose him. They picked him 30th overall in the 2016 NBA draft.
He signed with the Warriors on July 13, 2016. His first NBA game was on December 10 against the Memphis Grizzlies. On February 1, 2017, he scored his first NBA points. This happened in a game against the Charlotte Hornets at Oracle Arena. The Warriors won that game 126–111.
During the 2016–17 season, he played in 10 regular-season games. He also played in four playoff games. The Warriors won the 2017 NBA Finals. They beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games. The Warriors had an amazing playoff record of 16 wins and 1 loss. This was the best winning percentage in NBA history.
In the 2017–18 season, Jones played in 15 regular-season games. He also played in four playoff games. The Warriors made it to the NBA Finals again. They won their second championship in a row. They swept the Cavaliers in four games. During his first two seasons, Jones also played for the Santa Cruz Warriors. This is Golden State's G League team.
Jones became the starting center for the Warriors in the 2018–19 season. He started in 22 of the first 24 games. On December 1, 2018, he tore a muscle in his left arm. This happened in a game against the Detroit Pistons. He had surgery and was expected to miss the rest of the season. However, Jones returned to play during the Western Conference Finals. The Warriors reached the 2019 NBA Finals. They lost to the Toronto Raptors in six games.
Playing for the Atlanta Hawks (2019–2020)
On July 8, 2019, Damian Jones was traded to the Atlanta Hawks. He was traded along with a future draft pick. In return, the Warriors received Omari Spellman.
Time with the Phoenix Suns (2020–2021)
On November 30, 2020, Jones signed a two-year deal with the Phoenix Suns. He played in 14 games for them. He averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
The Suns decided to let him go on February 23, 2021.
Short Stint with the Los Angeles Lakers (2021)
On February 26, 2021, Jones signed a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. He signed another 10-day contract on March 11.
Joining the Sacramento Kings (2021–2022)
On April 7, 2021, Jones signed a 10-day contract with the Sacramento Kings. He signed a second 10-day contract ten days later. On April 28, Jones signed a multi-year deal with the Kings. He had played in six games for them, starting two of them.
Back with the Lakers (2022–2023)
On July 1, 2022, Jones signed a two-year deal to return to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Playing for the Utah Jazz (2023)
On February 9, 2023, Jones was traded to the Utah Jazz. This was part of a three-team trade. He played his first game for the Jazz on February 15. He scored seven points and had two rebounds and two blocks. This was in a 117–111 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
On June 20, 2023, Jones decided to stay with the Jazz for the 2023–24 season.
With the Cleveland Cavaliers (2023–2024)
On July 8, 2023, Jones was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Playing in China (2024–Present)
On August 2, 2024, Damian Jones signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls. This team plays in the Chinese Basketball Association.
