Damian began his professional career with the West Sydney Razorbacks in the NBL. However, he got a knee injury early in his first season (2007–08).

Perth Wildcats: A Champion's Home
In 2009, Damian Martin joined the Perth Wildcats. This is where he became a true legend. In his first season (2009–10), he helped the Wildcats win the NBL championship!
He quickly became known for his amazing defense. He won the NBL Best Defensive Player Award five times in a row, from 2011 to 2015. In 2013, he became a co-captain of the team. The next year, he became the sole captain.
