Damien Michael Woody, born on November 3, 1977, is a former American football player. He played as an offensive guard in the National Football League (NFL). Woody played for the New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, and New York Jets. He was also a college football player for the Boston College Eagles. The Patriots drafted him in 1999 as a center. During his career, he played many positions on the offensive line. Woody was chosen for the Pro Bowl in 2002. He also won two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots.

Early Life and College Football
Damien Woody grew up in Ashland, Virginia. He went to Patrick Henry High School. There, he played football with Erron Kinney. They helped their team, the Patrick Henry Patriots, win the state football championship in 1994.
After high school, Woody played college football. He attended Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He played for the Boston College Eagles from 1995 to 1998.

New England Patriots
The New England Patriots picked Woody in the first round of the 1999 NFL draft. He was the 17th player chosen overall. Woody started 76 games for the Patriots. He mostly played as a center.
Woody was a key part of the Patriots' offensive line. This line helped the team win two Super Bowls. They won in 2001 and 2003. Woody was a Super Bowl champion twice. He did not play in Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2003 because of a knee injury.
Detroit Lions
In March 2004, Woody joined the Detroit Lions. He signed with them as a free agent. He started every game for the Lions in the 2004 and 2005 seasons. In 2006, he missed most of the season due to an injury. His strong play in 2004 earned him a spot as a Pro Bowl alternate.
New York Jets
On March 2, 2008, Woody signed a five-year contract with the New York Jets. The contract was worth $25 million.
During the 2010 season, the Jets made it to the playoffs. In a game against the Indianapolis Colts on January 8, 2011, Woody got hurt. He tore his Achilles tendon. This injury ended his season. The Jets released him on February 28, 2011. Woody announced his retirement from football on July 26, 2011.
