Daniel Jacob Calichman (born February 21, 1968) is an American soccer coach and former player. He played as a defender. Today, he is an assistant coach for the Major League Soccer team LA Galaxy.

Playing Career Highlights
College Soccer Days
Dan Calichman played college soccer at Williams College. He was a fantastic player there. He was even named an NCAA Division III All-American three times! This means he was one of the best college players in his division.
Professional Soccer Journey
Calichman started his professional soccer career in Japan. He played for a team called Mazda, which later became Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He was the very first American player to join Japan's top soccer league, the J-League!
After playing in Japan, Dan came back to the United States in 1995. He played for teams like Boston Storm and New York Centaurs in the A-League.
Playing in Major League Soccer
In 1996, Dan joined Los Angeles Galaxy in the new Major League Soccer (MLS). He was a very important player for the Galaxy. He was even the team captain for three seasons! In 1996, he was chosen as an MLS All-Star, which means he was one of the best players in the league.
Later, he played for the New England Revolution and the San Jose Earthquakes. He finished his playing career in 2001 with the Charleston Battery. The LA Galaxy honored him in a special ceremony in 2009 to celebrate his contributions to the team.
Playing for His Country
Dan Calichman also had the chance to play for the United States national team. He played in two international games in 1997.
Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Dan Calichman became a soccer coach.
Early Coaching Roles
In 2002, he became the head coach for the men's soccer team at Claremont McKenna College. He also worked with youth soccer players. He helped develop young talent for clubs like LAFC Chelsea. This club later became part of the youth programs for the New York Cosmos and Chivas USA.
Coaching in MLS
From 2014 to 2020, Dan was an assistant coach for Toronto FC, another MLS team. Since 2021, he has been an assistant coach for his former team, the LA Galaxy.
