Daniel Jacob Calichman (born February 21, 1968) is an American soccer coach and former player. He played as a defender. Today, he is an assistant coach for the Major League Soccer team LA Galaxy.

Playing Career Highlights
College Soccer Years
Dan Calichman played college soccer at Williams College. He was a top player there, earning the title of NCAA Division III All-American three times. This means he was recognized as one of the best college players in his division.
Professional Soccer Journey
Calichman started his professional career in Japan in 1990. He played for a team called Mazda, which later became Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He was the first American player ever to play in Japan's top soccer league, the J-League. This was a big achievement!
In 1995, he returned to the United States. He played for teams like Boston Storm and New York Centaurs.
In 1996, Calichman joined Los Angeles Galaxy in the new Major League Soccer (MLS). He was a very important player for the team. He was even the team captain for three seasons! In 1996, he was chosen as an MLS All-Star, showing he was one of the best players in the league.
Later, he played for the New England Revolution and the San Jose Earthquakes. He even captained the Earthquakes when their usual captain was not playing. He finished his playing career in 2001 with the Charleston Battery. After the 2001 season, he stopped playing competitive soccer.
The LA Galaxy honored him in a special ceremony in 2009.
Playing for His Country
Dan Calichman also played for the United States national team. He played in two international games in 1997.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Dan Calichman became a soccer coach. In 2002, he became the head coach for the men's soccer team at Claremont McKenna College in California.
He also helped develop young soccer players. He worked with youth soccer organizations that later became part of the New York Cosmos and Chivas USA youth academies.
From 2014 to 2020, he was an assistant coach for the MLS team Toronto FC. Since 2021, he has been an assistant coach for his former team, the LA Galaxy.
