Daniel Edwin McLaughlin (born March 18, 1974) is a professional sportscaster. He is a co-host on the "Opening Drive" morning radio show. He works with Randy Karraker and Brooke Grimsley on 101 ESPN in St. Louis. He used to announce games for the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues on Bally Sports Midwest. He also worked as a play-by-play announcer for the NFL on Fox.
Early Life and Education
Dan McLaughlin was born on March 18, 1974. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. His father was a school teacher. After high school, Dan went to Lindenwood University. He played baseball there.
Dan wanted to be a sportscaster from a young age. While at Lindenwood, he worked at the university's radio station, KCLC. This helped him learn about broadcasting.
Broadcasting Career
While in college, Dan had an internship at KMOX radio in St. Louis. In 1996, he became a sports talk show host there. Soon, he started helping with St. Louis Blues TV broadcasts. He also worked for FSN Midwest.
In 2000, he became the main announcer for FSN's Cardinals baseball games. Dan also announced basketball games for the Mizzou Tigers. He covered games for the Missouri Valley Conference. Sometimes, he announced college football games for ESPN.
Dan also owns a media company called Scoops with Danny Mac. Through this company, he interviews famous sports people. These interviews are shared as a TV show and a podcast. Scoops with Danny Mac is known for its honest talks.
In December 2022, Dan McLaughlin finished his work with Bally Sports.
Personal Life
Dan McLaughlin is married to Libby. They have two sons and two daughters. The McLaughlins are involved in many charities in the St. Louis area. They host an event called the "Dan McLaughlin Golf Tournament." This tournament helps support special education.
