Danciger is a small community in Brazoria County, Texas. It is not an official city, but a place where people live and work. In 2000, about 357 people called Danciger home. It is located within the larger Greater Houston area.
The Story of Danciger
Danciger started because of oil! In 1933, a local oil company found a big gas field nearby. This discovery helped create the community. A post office opened in Danciger in 1934. By 1939, there were two businesses and about 150 residents. The number of people living there grew to 314 between 1974 and 1990. In 1978, Danciger still had two businesses. Two more opened in the early 1990s. By 2000, the population reached 357, but it went back to having just two businesses.
Where is Danciger?
Danciger is located on Farm to Market Road 1301. It is near Dance Bayou and the border of Matagorda County. The community is about 10 miles (16 km) west of West Columbia. It is also about 25 miles (40 km) west of Angleton. Wharton is about 24 miles (39 km) to the southeast. Bay City is also about 24 miles (39 km) to the northeast. Danciger is in the far western part of Brazoria County.

Students in the Danciger area attend schools. These schools are run by the Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District. This district provides education for the local children.
