Dane Baptiste was born on 3 September 1981. He is a British stand-up comedian, writer, and presenter. He made history as the first Black British comedian to be nominated for the "Best Newcomer" award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2014. His own comedy TV show, Sunny D, first aired on BBC Three in 2016. Dane has appeared on many TV and radio shows. He also hosts his own podcast called Dane Baptiste Questions Everything. In 2021, his comedy pilot Bamous was shown on BBC Three and BBC One.

Early Life and Education
Dane Baptiste grew up in Hither Green, which is in South East London. He went to Haberdashers' Hatcham College in New Cross. After school, he studied business at Bradford University. Before becoming a comedian, Dane worked in media sales.
Becoming a Stand-Up Comedian
Dane Baptiste began performing stand-up comedy in 2012.
Edinburgh Comedy Award Nomination
In 2014, Dane was nominated for the "Best Newcomer" Edinburgh Comedy Award. This was a big moment because he was the first Black British person to receive this nomination. His first stand-up show was called "Citizen Dane". It was very successful and he performed it twice at London's Soho Theatre.
Tours and Recognition
In 2015, Dane was nominated for a Chortle award. He performed his second stand-up show, "Reasonable Doubts", at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015. After that, he went on his first solo tour across the country in 2016.
In 2018, Dane went on a world tour. He performed his third stand-up show, G.O.D., in places like Australia and New Zealand. In 2021, he started a new show and international tour called The Chocolate Chip.

Dane Baptiste has been a guest on many popular TV shows. These include Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. He has also appeared on Virtually Famous, Celebrity Squares, and Richard Osman's House of Games. In December 2018, he won a week-long series of Richard Osman's House of Games.

Dane has also hosted several TV shows. He hosted Live At The Apollo on BBC Two. He also hosted Live from the Comedy Store on Comedy Central. Another show he hosted was Tonight at the London Palladium on ITV1.
Creating His Own Shows
In 2016, Dane created, wrote, and starred in his own comedy series called Sunny D. This show was later bought by Lionsgate Pictures in 2018 to be remade for American television.
During the 2020 lockdown, Dane performed for charity events. He was part of The Big Night In for Children in Need and Comic Relief. In January 2021, his new BBC comedy pilot Bamous was shown on BBC Three and BBC One. Dane created and wrote this pilot.

Besides performing, Dane Baptiste is also a writer. He wrote his sitcom Sunny D in 2016. In 2020, he created and wrote the BBC pilot Bamous.
Dane hosts his own podcast called Dane Baptiste Questions Everything. He is also part of a comedy group called Quotas Full. He is currently working on new TV and film projects for both the UK and the US.
