Daniel Fernando Abugattás Majluf (born April 14, 1955 – died January 22, 2025) was a businessman and politician from Peru. He was a member of the Alliance for Progress political party. Before that, he was a Congressman for Lima from 2006 to 2016. He also belonged to the Peruvian Nationalist Party.

Early Life and Education
Daniel Abugattás was born on April 14, 1955, in Arequipa, Peru. He studied law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in Lima.
He continued his studies in Mexico, earning a master's degree in economic law. This was at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana from 1980 to 1981. In 1982, he also took a special course in quality management in Japan. This course was with the Japanese Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) in Osaka.
Daniel Abugattás passed away on January 22, 2025, at the age of 69.
Professional Career
Before becoming a politician, Daniel Abugattás had a career in business. From 1980 to 1994, he worked as a procurator for Fabrica Moderna S.A. in Lima. A procurator is someone who manages legal matters for a company.
Later, from 1994 to 2006, he was the general director of Nielsen Peru. Nielsen is a well-known company that studies markets and consumer behavior.
Entering Politics
Daniel Abugattás began his political journey in the 2006 Peruvian general election. He was elected as a congressman for Lima. He ran on a joint list with the Union for Peru and Peruvian Nationalist Party. After the election, he chose to join the Nationalist Party group in Congress.
During the election campaign, Abugattás was a spokesperson for Ollanta Humala, who was running for president.
Key Roles in Congress
From 2007 to 2011, he was part of the Nationalist Party's political committee. He started his work in Congress as the president of the Commission for Production, Micro and Small Enterprises. This commission helps small businesses.
Ollanta Humala asked him to help organize the Nationalist Party. In less than a year, he helped 32,000 people join the party. He also helped open party offices in 70% of Peru.
He was chosen to lead the "Petroaudios" Investigative Commission. This commission looked into corruption cases. He played an important role in finding out what happened. From 2010 to 2011, Abugattás was the main spokesperson for the Nationalist group in Congress.
President of Congress
In the 2011 Peruvian general election, Ollanta Humala won the presidency. Daniel Abugattás was also re-elected as a congressman. For the 2011–2012 term, he was elected President of the Congress. This is a very important role in Peru's government.
In March 2016, he left the Nationalist Party. This was due to disagreements with the party's leadership. He later joined the Alliance for Progress party, led by César Acuña. He tried to run for Congress again in the 2021 Peruvian general election but was not elected.
