Daniel Hassan Ochefu (born December 15, 1993) is a basketball player from both Nigeria and the United States. He last played for the Al-Jaish team in the Syrian Basketball League. Before becoming a professional, he played college basketball for the Villanova Wildcats. He also played for a short time in the NBA with the Washington Wizards.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Daniel Ochefu was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He went to Westtown School where he was a star player. In his junior year, he scored about 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in each game. For his senior year, he moved to Downingtown East High School. He was considered one of the top 100 high school basketball players in his class.
College Career at Villanova
Ochefu played college basketball at Villanova University. In his first year, he was a backup player. During the 2013–14 season, he averaged 5.7 points per game. The next season, he improved, scoring 9.2 points per game.
On February 13, 2016, Ochefu had his best game, scoring 25 points in a win against St. John's. At the end of that season, he was recognized as one of the best players in the Big East Conference. On April 4, 2016, Ochefu played in the NCAA national championship game against North Carolina. He helped his team, the Villanova Wildcats, win the game 77–74, earning Villanova their second national championship.
Professional Basketball Journey
Playing in the NBA
After the 2016 NBA draft, Daniel Ochefu wasn't picked by any team. However, he joined the Washington Wizards for the Summer League. He later signed with the Wizards on September 23, 2016. He played his first NBA game on October 27, getting one rebound in four minutes.
In October 2017, the Wizards decided not to keep him. The Boston Celtics then signed him and sent him to play for their G-League team, the Maine Red Claws.
Time in the G-League
On November 30, 2017, Ochefu joined the Windy City Bulls. Later, on February 12, 2018, he was traded to the Reno Bighorns. This team later became the Stockton Kings. While playing for them, Ochefu averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds per game.
Playing Overseas
Since 2019, Daniel Ochefu has played for many teams around the world.
- In April 2019, he signed with Cafés Candelas Breogán in Spain.
- In July 2019, he moved to Japan to play for the Ibaraki Robots.
- In August 2022, he was supposed to play for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the Philippines, but another player took his spot.
- In February 2023, he played for the TNT Tropang Giga in Japan for a special tournament.
- On September 20, 2023, Ochefu signed with the Hsinchu Lioneers in Taiwan, but he left the team in December.
- In April 2024, Ochefu joined Al-Jaish in Syria. In his first playoff game there, he scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
International Games
Daniel Ochefu has also played for the Nigeria national basketball team. He was part of the team for the 2017 FIBA Africa Championship.
