Daniel Hassan Ochefu (born December 15, 1993) is a professional basketball player. He has both American and Nigerian citizenship. Daniel plays as a power forward or center. He played college basketball for the Villanova Wildcats. He also had a short time playing in the NBA with the Washington Wizards. His last team was Al-Jaish in the Syrian Basketball League.

High School Basketball Journey
Daniel Ochefu was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He first went to the Westtown School. As a junior, he was a star player. He averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds per game. For his senior year, he moved to Downingtown East High School. He was ranked as one of the top 100 players in his high school class.
College Success at Villanova
Ochefu played college basketball for Villanova University. In his first year, he learned a lot playing behind another center. During the 2013–14 season, he scored about 5.7 points per game. The next season, he improved to 9.2 points per game.
On February 13, 2016, Ochefu had his best game, scoring 25 points against St. John's. He was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-Big East player. On April 4, 2016, Ochefu helped Villanova win the NCAA championship. They beat North Carolina 77–74 in an exciting game. This was Villanova's second national title.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Daniel Ochefu began his professional career.
Playing for the Washington Wizards (2016–2017)
Daniel Ochefu was not chosen in the 2016 NBA draft. However, he joined the Washington Wizards for the Las Vegas Summer League. He played well enough to sign with the Wizards on September 23, 2016. He made his NBA debut on October 27, 2016. He played four minutes in a game against the Atlanta Hawks.
Time in the G-League (2017–2019)
The Wizards later let Ochefu go on October 9, 2017. He then signed with the Boston Celtics and was sent to their G-League team, the Maine Red Claws. On November 30, 2017, he moved to the Windy City Bulls.
On February 12, 2018, Ochefu was traded to the Reno Bighorns. This team later became the Stockton Kings. He played well there, averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds per game.
Playing Overseas (2019–Present)
Since 2019, Daniel Ochefu has played for many teams around the world.
- On April 2, 2019, he signed with Cafés Candelas Breogán in Spain.
- In July 2019, he joined the Ibaraki Robots in Japan.
- In August 2022, he signed with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the Philippines. However, he was replaced before the season started.
- In February 2023, Ochefu played for the TNT Tropang Giga in Japan for a special tournament.
- On September 20, 2023, he signed with the Hsinchu Lioneers in Taiwan. He left the team on December 1, 2023.
- In April 2024, Ochefu joined Al-Jaish in Syria. In his first playoff game, he scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
International Basketball
Daniel Ochefu has also played for the Nigeria national basketball team. He was part of the team for the 2017 FIBA Africa Championship. Nigeria won a silver medal in this competition.
