Daniel Oss's Cycling Journey
Early Years and Amateur Racing (2004–2008)
Daniel Oss started showing his talent in cycling very early. In 2004, when he was a student, he did very well in track cycling. He won three medals in the pursuit event at the National Student Track Championships. That same year, he also got third place in the Madison at the European Student Championships.
After a quiet year, Daniel came back strong in 2006. He won five races, showing his skill. In 2008, he competed in the World Championships for riders under 23. He finished eighth in the road race, which was a great result.
Turning Professional with Liquigas (2009–2012)
In 2009, Daniel Oss became a professional cyclist. He joined the Liquigas team. In his first pro race, the Tour of Catalunya, he finished ninth in the opening part. This showed he could compete with the best. Later that year, he won a national track championship in team pursuit.
In 2010, Daniel finished fifth in a big race called Gent–Wevelgem. He also rode in his first ever Grand Tour, the Tour de France. He even won an award for being the most combative rider on one stage. In 2011, he helped his teammate Elia Viviani win two stages in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Daniel was a great "lead-out man," helping sprinters get into position. In fact, on one stage, Viviani let Daniel win the sprint himself!
Success with BMC and Bora-Hansgrohe (2013–2023)
After leaving Liquigas, Daniel joined the BMC team in 2013. He spent five years there and had a lot of success. He won four medals at the UCI Road World Championships in the team time trial event. This included two gold medals in 2014 and 2015. He also helped his team win seven team time trials in other races, including the 2015 Tour de France and the 2017 Vuelta a España.
In 2018, Daniel moved to the Bora-Hansgrohe team. Here, he often worked as a domestique for the famous cyclist Peter Sagan. A domestique is a teammate who helps the team leader win. Daniel and Peter later moved to the TotalEnergies team in 2022. That year, Daniel won a silver medal at the first-ever UCI Gravel World Championships in Italy. He rode in an attacking group for a long time, showing his strength.
