Early Life and Junior Career

Daniel Wagon was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Like many young Australians, he started playing rugby league at a young age. He played his junior rugby league for a team called the Springwood Tigers. He also went to Runcorn State High School.

Playing Career Highlights

Starting in the NRL

After finishing high school, Daniel Wagon moved to a town called Yamba, New South Wales. He played for a local team there, the Lower Clarence Magpies. He then tried out for two big NRL clubs in Sydney: the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and the St. George Dragons. He decided to sign with the St. George Dragons.

Daniel made his first big professional game debut for St. George in 1997. It was in Round 3 of the 1997 ARL season against the Illawarra Steelers. He even scored a try in that game, helping his team win 20-8. He played for the Dragons for two seasons, from 1997 to 1998.

Time with the Parramatta Eels

  • State of Origin

* In 2001, Daniel was chosen to play for the Queensland in the famous 2001 State of Origin series. This is a huge honor for any rugby league player in Australia. He played in all three games that year.

  • Grand Final Appearance

* At the end of the 2001 season, Daniel played in the 2001 NRL grand final for the Parramatta Eels. He played as the "lock forward". Even though the Eels were a strong team, they sadly lost to the Newcastle Knights.

Daniel played a total of 204 games for the Parramatta Eels. He was a key player for them during a time when they were often very close to winning a major championship.

Playing Overseas

After his time in the NRL, Daniel Wagon decided to play rugby league in other countries.
