The Daniel Webster Law Office is a special historic building in Marshfield, Massachusetts. It is located on the property of the Isaac Winslow House. This small office was built in 1832 for a famous American leader named Daniel Webster. He used it to keep his law books and farm books. It was also a quiet place where he could work or relax away from his main house.

This office is very important to American history. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 1974. This means it is a place recognized by the United States government for its historical value. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

What is the Daniel Webster Law Office?

The law office is a small building made of wood. It has only one room and one story. The roof is shaped like a triangle. The outside walls are covered with overlapping wooden boards called clapboards. It has windows with 12 small glass panes on the top and 12 on the bottom. These windows are on two sides of the building. The main door is on a third side. On the fourth side, there are two windows with a fireplace in the middle.

Where was the office originally located?

The office once stood on a very large piece of land. This land was part of Daniel Webster's huge "Green Fields" estate. This estate was more than 1,200 acres (about 485 hectares). Webster lived there from 1832 until he passed away in 1852. His main house on the estate burned down in 1878. Even though his family rebuilt the main house, this law office is the only original building from his estate that still exists today.

How was the office saved?

By 1966, the law office was in poor condition. It was almost torn down. Luckily, the local historical society stepped in to save it. They moved the building to its current spot near the Isaac Winslow House. Its original location is now part of the Thomas–Webster Estate. This estate is owned by the town and is also open to visitors.

In May 2015, the Law Office was moved back to the grounds of the Daniel Webster Estate. The Marshfield Historical Commission now takes care of Daniel Webster's law office. This is the original building that Webster used as his office at his Green Harbor estate. The law office is now open to the public after important repairs and updates were completed.
