Danila Valeryevich Kozlovsky (born May 3, 1985) is a famous Russian actor and director. You might know him from movies like Vampire Academy and Soulless, or the TV show Vikings. He has become very popular not just in Russia, but also in other countries in Eastern Europe.

About Danila Kozlovsky
Danila Kozlovsky was born in Moscow, a big city in Russia. His mother, Nadezhda Zvenigorodskaya, is an actress who performs on stage. His father, Valery Kozlovsky, was a university professor. Danila has two brothers, Yegor and Ivan. When he was young, Danila took dance and music lessons. He even learned to play the saxophone. He often changed schools when he was younger.
His first acting role was in 1998. He played a character named Denis in a Russian TV show called Simple Truths. This was his first time acting on the big screen!
In 1996, Danila joined the Kronshtadt Naval Military School. He studied there until he finished in 2002. After that, he went to the Saint Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy. He studied acting and directing. During his fourth year, he started performing at the Little Drama Theatre. His first role there was Edgar in the play King Lear in 2006. This role helped him win his first theater award for "Best Debut."
After finishing his studies in 2007, Danila officially joined the Little Drama Theatre. He performed in many plays, including Lord of the Flies, Intrigue and Love, and The Cherry Orchard.
Becoming a Film Star
In 2005, Danila got his first important movie role in a film called Garpastum. This movie was set during World War I and was about two brothers who wanted to build their own football stadium. Danila won an award for being the best male actor in this film.
He became even more well-known in 2008 with his main role in the movie Black Hunters. In this film, he played Sergei Filatov, an archaeologist who travels back in time.
In 2009, he acted in the comedy-drama Jolly Fellows. This movie was shown at a famous film festival in Berlin, Germany.
Soulless and Big Success
Danila Kozlovsky became a household name in Russia after starring in the 2012 film Soulless. He played Max Andreev, a young business manager who starts to think about what's truly important in his life. The movie was very popular and made a lot of money. Danila won the Golden Eagle Award for "Best Cinema Actor" for this role. He also won the Nika Award for best actor for the movie's sequel, Soulless 2, which came out in 2015.
In 2012, Danila also played Yegor Dorin in the film The Spy.
A year later, in 2013, he played the famous ice-hockey player Valeri Kharlamov in the sports drama Legend № 17. This movie was also a big success and earned a lot of money.
Danila starred in his first Hollywood movie in 2014. He played Dimitri Belikov in the comedy-horror film Vampire Academy.
In 2016, Danila was in five different movies! These included the romantic comedy Status: non engaged, the action film Hardcore Henry, the comedy Friday, the disaster film Flight Crew, and the historical action film Viking. Flight Crew and Viking were especially popular at the box office.
In 2017, he played Count Vorontzov in the film Matilda. This movie told the story of the romance between Emperor Nicholas II and a ballerina named Mathilde Kschessinska.
Also in 2017, it was announced that Danila would join the popular historical drama TV series Vikings. He played the character Oleg of Novgorod in the sixth season.
In 2018, Danila had a supporting role in Dovlatov, a movie about the writer Sergei Dovlatov. This film was shown at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Danila Kozlovsky also started directing movies! His first film as a director was Coach, released in 2018. In 2021, he directed the film Chernobyl: Abyss.
In the News
In 2013, GQ magazine in Russia named Danila Kozlovsky their "Man of the Year."
He also appeared in advertisements for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume in 2015, alongside actress Keira Knightley.
Personal Life
In 2008, Danila Kozlovsky married actress Urszula Małka. They later divorced in 2011. From 2014 to 2020, he was in a relationship with actress and model Olga Zueva. They had a daughter named Oda Valentina Zueva in March 2020.
