Danuta Szaflarska (born February 6, 1915 – died February 19, 2017) was a famous Polish actress. She acted in many films and plays. In 2008, she won the Złota Kaczka award for being the best Polish actress of the century. Danuta Szaflarska also helped during the Warsaw Uprising, acting as a messenger. She received some of Poland's highest awards, like the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Gold Medal of Gloria Artis.
Early Life and Family
Danuta Szaflarska was born in Kosarzyska, a town that was part of Austria-Hungary at the time. Today, this area is in Poland. She had two daughters, Maria and Agnieszka. Danuta Szaflarska lived a very long life. She even celebrated her 100th birthday in February 2015!
Acting Career
Danuta Szaflarska started her acting career in 1939. She worked for many years, until 2016. She was a regular actress at the Teatr Rozmaitości in Warsaw. This theater was known for showing modern and new plays. Even in her later years, she performed in several different plays there.
