Lady and the Tramp is a classic animated movie from 1955. It was made by Walt Disney. The film was released in theaters on June 22, 1955. It was the 15th animated film in Disney's famous series.
This movie was special because it was the first Disney cartoon filmed in a wide screen format. This format is called CinemaScope. The film was even nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Animated Movie.
The story takes place in 1909. It follows a sweet American Cocker Spaniel dog named Lady. She lives a comfortable life with a loving family. The movie is also about a brave stray dog named the Tramp. He is a mutt who lives on his own. A sequel to the movie, Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure, came out in 2001.
In June 2011, TIME magazine called it one of "The 25 All-TIME Best Animated Films."
