Clito "Clyde" Geronimi (born June 12, 1901 – died April 24, 1989) was a famous American animation director. He was also known as Gerry. He is best known for his amazing work at Walt Disney Productions. He helped create many classic animated movies.

Clyde Geronimi's Early Life and Career
Clyde Geronimi was born in Chiavenna, Italy. He moved to the United States when he was a young child. His first job in animation was at the J.R. Bray Studios. There, he worked with another animation pioneer, Walter Lantz.
After Bray Studio closed in 1928, Geronimi joined Walter Lantz's new studio. They made cartoons for Universal Pictures. In 1931, Geronimi moved to Walt Disney Productions. He stayed there for many years, until 1959.
Working at Disney Studios
At Disney, Geronimi started as an animator. He later became a director. His 1941 short film, Lend a Paw, won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. This was a big achievement!
After World War II, Geronimi began directing full-length animated movies. He was one of the main directors for many beloved Disney films. These include Bambi, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
Later Career and Awards
After leaving Disney in 1959, Geronimi worked in television. He directed many episodes for the 1967 animated Spider-Man series. He also worked for UPA. He retired from animation in the late 1960s. After that, he drew pictures for children's books.
In 1978, Geronimi received the Winsor McCay Award. This award is given for a lifetime of contributions to animation. His old friend Walter Lantz presented him with the award. In 2017, he was also named a Disney Legend after his death. This honor celebrates people who have made a lasting impact on Disney.
Clyde Geronimi passed away on April 24, 1989. He was 87 years old. He died at his home in Newport Beach, California.
