Peter Pan is a classic animated movie from 1953. It was made by Walt Disney and is the 14th film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. The movie is based on the famous play Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up by J. M. Barrie.
The film first came out on February 5, 1953. It was the last Disney animated movie released by RKO Pictures. After Peter Pan, Walt Disney started his own company to release his movies, called Buena Vista Distribution.
This beloved movie has been released many times over the years. It was part of the Walt Disney Classic Collection in 1990. Later, it joined the Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection in 1998. In 2007, it was released as a special Platinum Edition. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, it was released again on February 5, 2013.
Peter Pan was even shown at the 1953 Cannes Film Festival. Its story continued with a sequel called Return to Never Land in 2002. Also, a series of movies about Tinker Bell, released directly to DVD, started in 2008.
