One Hundred and One Dalmatians, often called 101 Dalmatians, is a famous animated movie from Walt Disney Pictures. It was the 17th film in the Walt Disney classics series. The movie was made by Walt Disney Productions. It is based on a book called The Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith.
The movie features the voices of Rod Taylor as Pongo, a brave dalmatian dog. Betty Lou Gerson voices the main villain, Cruella de Vil.
Disney later made a live-action version of the movie in 1996. It was also called 101 Dalmatians. In that film, Glenn Close played Cruella De Vil. In the live-action version, the animals did not talk.
About the Movie
One Hundred and One Dalmatians first came out in movie theaters on January 25, 1961. It was very popular! Because of this, it was shown in theaters again several times. These re-releases happened in January 1969, June 1979, December 1985, and July 1991.
Later, the movie became available for home viewing. It was released on VHS tapes in 1992 and again in 1999. The first DVD version came out in 1999. A special 2-disc DVD was released in 2008. Finally, it was released on Blu-ray in 2015.
This movie also has a sequel. It is called 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure. A sequel is a movie that continues the story of an earlier film.
