Danyle Pearce (born 7 April 1986) is a former professional Australian rules footballer. He played for the Port Adelaide Football Club and Fremantle Football Club in the top-level Australian Football League (AFL). Danyle played for Port Adelaide from 2005 to 2012. He then joined Fremantle, playing there from 2013 until 2018.

Early Life and Sports

Danyle Pearce is an Indigenous Australian. His family roots come from the Kokatha people.

Before playing AFL, Danyle started his football journey with the Sturt Football Club. This team plays in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL).

Interestingly, Danyle was also a talented basketball player. He even represented his home state, South Australia, in basketball as a point guard. He went to Springbank Secondary College, which was known as Pasadena High School at the time.

AFL Career Highlights

Playing for Port Adelaide (2005–2012)

Danyle Pearce joined the Port Adelaide Football Club through the 2005 Rookie Draft. He was picked as the 16th player.

He played his first AFL game in 2005. In his first year, he was named the Best First Year Player for Port Adelaide. In 2006, he was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award.

Danyle went on to win the 2006 NAB Rising Star award. He received 43 out of a possible 45 votes. This was a big achievement because he was the first player who started as a rookie to win this award.

In 2006, he also played for the Australian team in the International Rules series against Ireland.

Danyle also won two special awards in 2006. He received the Gavin Wanganeen Medal, which is for the best young player at Port Adelaide. He also won the Marn Grook Award from the AFL Players Association.

Playing for Fremantle (2013–2018)

In 2012, Danyle Pearce moved to the Fremantle Football Club. He joined them using a new rule called the Free Agency Period. Port Adelaide decided not to stop him from leaving, so he signed with Fremantle for the 2013 season.

In 2014, Danyle was a key player for Fremantle. He led the entire AFL in "inside 50s." This means he was great at getting the ball into his team's attacking zone.

Danyle Pearce retired from professional football at the end of the 2018 season. He played a total of 258 senior games during his career.
