Danyle Pearce, born on April 7, 1986, is a former professional Australian rules football player. He played in the Australian Football League (AFL) for two teams: the Port Adelaide Football Club from 2005 to 2012, and the Fremantle Football Club from 2013 to 2018.

Danyle Pearce's Early Life

Danyle Pearce is from an Indigenous Australian background. His family history is linked to the Kokatha people.

Before playing AFL, Pearce started his football journey with the Sturt Football Club. This club plays in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He was also a talented basketball player, representing South Australia as a point guard.

Pearce went to Springbank Secondary College, which was known as Pasadena High School at the time.

Danyle Pearce's AFL Career

Playing for Port Adelaide (2005–2012)

Danyle Pearce joined the Port Adelaide Football Club through the 2005 Rookie Draft. He was the 16th player chosen in that draft.

He played his first AFL game in Round 18 of the 2005 season for the Port Adelaide Power. In his first year, he was named the Best First Year Player for the Power. In 2006, he was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award in Round 3.

Pearce won the 2006 NAB Rising Star award. He received 43 votes out of a possible 45. This made him the first player who started as a rookie to win this important award.

In 2006, he also played for Australia in the International Rules series against Ireland.

Pearce received the Gavin Wanganeen Medal in 2006. This was a new award for the best up-and-coming player at the Port Adelaide Football Club. He also won the Marn Grook Award from the AFL Players Association.

Playing for Fremantle (2013–2018)

On October 1, 2012, the Fremantle Football Club offered Pearce a contract. He was a Restricted Free Agent, which meant Port Adelaide could try to keep him. However, Port Adelaide decided not to match Fremantle's offer. So, Pearce signed with Fremantle for the 2013 season.

In the 2014 season, Pearce was a top player for getting the ball inside the forward 50-meter arc. He led the AFL in this important statistic.

Danyle Pearce retired from professional football at the end of the 2018 season. He played a total of 258 senior games during his career.
