Darleen Carr, born Darlene Farnon on December 12, 1950, is an American actress and singer. She is also known as Darlene Carr or Darleen Drake. Darleen has two sisters, Shannon Farnon and Charmian Carr, who are also actresses.

Darleen Carr's Early Life

Darleen Carr was born in Chicago, Illinois. Her father, Brian Farnon, led an orchestra at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. Her mother, Rita Oehman, was part of a singing group called The Oehman Twins. Before Darleen turned 11, her family moved to Mission Hills in the San Fernando Valley. She later went to North Hollywood High School.

Acting Career Highlights

Darleen Carr has had many roles in television and movies. Her only main role in a TV series was in Miss Winslow & Son (1979). In this show, she played Susan Winslow, a single mom.

TV Shows and Series

From 1965 to 1966, Darleen played Kathy in The John Forsythe Show. She was also a regular on Dean Martin Presents the Gold Diggers in 1969. Later, she played Cindy Smith in The Smith Family from 1971 to 1972.

Darleen also had repeating roles in other TV series. She played Margaret Devlin in The Oregon Trail (1977). In Bret Maverick (1981–1982), she was an editor, reporter, and photographer for a town newspaper.

She played Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy, who was John F. Kennedy's sister, in Young Joe, The Forgotten Kennedy. Darleen also had a main role in the miniseries Once an Eagle (1976). She played the daughter of Karl Malden's character in The Streets of San Francisco for 12 episodes. She returned to this role in the TV movie Back to the Streets of San Francisco (1992).

Darleen Carr was a guest star on many popular TV shows in the 1970s and 1980s. These included The Waltons, Charlie's Angels, Murder, She Wrote, and Magnum, P.I.. In 1994, she appeared as Ambassador E'Tyshra on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Darleen Carr's first movie was Monkeys, Go Home! in 1967. She also appeared in The Impossible Years (1968) with David Niven. Other films include Death of a Gunfighter (1969) and The Beguiled (1971) with Clint Eastwood. Later, she was in Eight Days a Week (1997). She also acted in TV horror movies like The Horror at 37,000 Feet (1973) and Piranha (1995).

Darleen Carr as a Singer

Besides acting, Darleen Carr is also a talented singer. She sang in the famous movie The Sound of Music. She provided the high singing voice for the character Kurt. She also sang some high solo parts for her sister Charmian in the movie.

Darleen sang as "The Girl" in Walt Disney's animated movie The Jungle Book. She had a contract with RCA Records. She played Abigail Adams in the musical 1776 at the Long Beach Civic Light Opera. Darleen also released an album called The Carr-De Belles Band. She performed with her band at the Vine St. Bar and Grill in Hollywood.
