LaFarrell Darnell Mee (born February 11, 1971) is a former professional basketball player from America. He played for 12 seasons in Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). Darnell Mee also played college basketball for Western Kentucky. He was chosen by the Golden State Warriors in the 1993 NBA draft. He played 40 games in the NBA for the Denver Nuggets. During his time in Australia, Mee was named the NBL Best Defensive Player five times. He also helped his teams win two NBL championships. In 2006, he became an Australian citizen.

College Basketball Journey
Darnell Mee graduated from Cleveland High School in Tennessee in 1989. He started at Western Kentucky in 1990. He played for the Hilltoppers until 1993. In 91 games, he averaged 13.8 points and 5.2 rebounds. He also had 3.0 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Darnell Mee played for the Daytona Beach Hooters. This was in the United States Basketball League.
NBA Experience
The Golden State Warriors picked Darnell Mee in the 1993 NBA draft. He was the 34th player chosen overall. Later, he was traded to the Denver Nuggets. He played 40 NBA games for them over two seasons.
Playing in Other Leagues
In 1995, Mee played in the Continental Basketball Association. He had short periods with the Tri-City Chinook and Yakima Sun Kings.
Success in Australia's NBL
In 1996, Darnell Mee moved to Australia. He joined the Canberra Cannons in the NBL. After a season in France with Gravelines, he returned to Australia.
He joined the Adelaide 36ers in 1998. He played for them for several seasons. During this time, he won two NBL championships. He also earned the NBL Best Defensive Player award multiple times. In 2000, he briefly played in Italy for Kinder Bologna.
Mee then played in Germany for Bayer Giants Leverkusen in 2001–02. He started the 2002–03 season in France. Later, he returned to Australia to play for the Cairns Taipans.
From 2003 to 2005, Mee played for the Wollongong Hawks. He went back to the Taipans in 2005. He finished his playing career with them in 2009. In February 2006, he won his fifth NBL Best Defensive Player award. This was a record at the time.
Representing Australia
Darnell Mee became an Australian citizen in 2006. In 2007, he played for the Australia men's national basketball team. He represented Australia in the 2007 FIBA Oceania Championship.
Coaching After Playing
After retiring from playing in 2009, Mee went back to college. He finished his degree at Western Kentucky University. He also worked as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's basketball team there.
He later coached at the high school level. In 2013, he became an assistant coach at Moberly Area Community College. He also coached the Bowling Green Bandits. In 2016, he was the head coach for the Woodville Warriors in Australia. After that season, he returned to the U.S. to coach basketball in his hometown.
Family Life
Darnell Mee has a son named Micale. Micale also plays college basketball at Texas Wesleyan University.
