LaFarrell Darnell Mee (born February 11, 1971) is an American-Australian former professional basketball player. He played for 12 seasons in Australia's NBL.
Darnell Mee played college basketball for Western Kentucky. After college, he was chosen by the Golden State Warriors in the 1993 NBA draft. He then played 40 games in the NBA for the Denver Nuggets.
In Australia, Darnell Mee was a star player. He won the NBL Best Defensive Player award five times. He also helped his teams win two NBL championships. In 2006, he became an Australian citizen.

College Basketball Career
Darnell Mee went to Cleveland High School in Tennessee. In 1989, he joined Western Kentucky for college. He took a year off before playing.
From 1990 to 1993, Mee played for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. In 91 games, he averaged about 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. He was also great at stealing the ball and blocking shots.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Darnell Mee started his professional career. He played for the Daytona Beach Hooters in a league called the United States Basketball League.
Playing in the NBA
In 1993, the Golden State Warriors picked Darnell Mee in the NBA draft. This meant they wanted him to play for their team. He was the 34th player chosen overall.
Soon after, he was traded to the Denver Nuggets. He played 40 games in the NBA over two seasons with the Nuggets.
In 1995, Mee also played for teams like the Tri-City Chinook and Yakima Sun Kings. These teams were part of the Continental Basketball Association.
Moving to Australia
In 1996, Darnell Mee moved to Australia. He joined the Canberra Cannons in the NBL. This was the start of his long career there.
After one season in Australia, Mee played in France for Gravelines during the 1996–97 season.
He returned to Australia in 1998 to play for the Adelaide 36ers. He played with the 36ers for several seasons. During this time, he also had a short period playing in Italy for Kinder Bologna. He came back to the 36ers for his fourth season with them.
In 2001–02, Mee played basketball in Germany for Bayer Giants Leverkusen.
He started the 2002–03 season in France with BC Besançon. But in November 2002, he came back to Australia. He finished that NBL season playing for the Cairns Taipans.
From 2003 to 2005, Darnell Mee played for the Wollongong Hawks in the NBL. He then returned to the Cairns Taipans in 2005. He played his final four seasons there. In February 2006, he won his fifth NBL's Best Defensive Player award. This was a record for the league!
Playing for His Country
In 2007, Darnell Mee played for the Australian national team. He represented Australia in the FIBA Oceania Championship.
Coaching Basketball
After he stopped playing in 2009, Darnell Mee went back to college. He finished his degree in recreation administration at Western Kentucky University. While studying, he also helped coach the men's basketball team there as a volunteer.
He then coached high school basketball. In 2013, he became an assistant coach at Moberly Area Community College. Later, he was the head coach for the Bowling Green Bandits. In 2016, he coached the Woodville Warriors in Australia for one season. After that, he returned to the U.S. and started coaching basketball in his hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee.
Family Life
Darnell Mee has a son named Micale. Micale also plays college basketball for Texas Wesleyan University.
