Darren George Henry was born on August 4, 1968. He is a British politician from the Conservative Party. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Broxtowe. He held this role from 2019 until 2024. For a short time in 2022, he was also an Assistant Government Whip.

Early Life and Career
Darren Henry was born in Bedford, England. His father was from Jamaica, and his mother was from Trinidad. He went to Rushmoor School for his education.
Serving in the Royal Air Force
After school, Darren Henry joined the Royal Air Force. He served in the Air Force for many years. He started as a corporal. Later, he became a flying officer in the supply branch. He was promoted to flight lieutenant in 1996. In 2007, he became a Squadron Leader. He left the Royal Air Force in 2013.
Political Journey
In 2014, Darren Henry joined the Conservative Party. He became interested in politics after his time in the military. He helped other politicians with their campaigns.
Becoming a Candidate
Darren Henry tried to become a Conservative candidate for Parliament several times.
- He sought to represent North West Hampshire.
- Before the 2015 general election, he was chosen to be the candidate for Wolverhampton North East. He came in second place in that election.
Local Government Roles
Henry also served in local government.
- He was a parish councillor in Shrewton, Wiltshire. He resigned from this role in 2019.

Election Campaign and Ideas
During his election campaign, Henry talked about important issues.
- He suggested he might propose a new law to ban advertising for payday loans. These are short-term, high-interest loans.
- He also spoke about helping people who use food banks. He thought they could benefit from learning more about managing money.
- He worked with another politician, Robert Jenrick. They discussed getting £25 million in funding for Stapleford, a town in Broxtowe. This funding would happen if Henry won the election and the Conservative party gained a majority.
Winning the Election
At the 2019 general election, Darren Henry was elected as the MP for Broxtowe. He won with 48.1% of the votes. His majority was 5,331 votes. This meant he had 5,331 more votes than the person who came in second.
First Speech in Parliament
Darren Henry gave his first speech in Parliament on June 25, 2020. This was during the week that marked 72 years since the Windrush generation arrived in the UK. He spoke about his pride in being the first Conservative MP with West Indian heritage. He also talked about the importance of working together to fix past problems related to the Windrush generation.
Supporting the Prime Minister
In July 2022, many government ministers resigned. Darren Henry continued to support the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, during this time.
Personal Life
Darren Henry is married to Caroline Henry. Caroline Henry was the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner for the Conservative Party from 2021 until 2024. They have two children, who are twins.
Caroline Henry also ran as a Conservative candidate in the 2024 general election for Nottingham North and Kimberley.
