Darren Douglas Phillip, born on March 18, 1978, is an American professional basketball player. He is also known as "Primal Fear" on the streetball courts in New York City. In 2000, he was the top rebounder in college basketball across the nation.

Darren Phillip's College Basketball Journey
Darren Phillip was born in London, England. He went to high school in Brooklyn, New York. Later, he played college basketball at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
College Achievements and Records
At Fairfield, Darren was chosen for the First Team All-MAAC twice. This happened in both 1999 and 2000. In his final year, he led all college players in rebounds per game. He grabbed an amazing 14.0 rebounds per game.
He also had 24 "double-doubles" that season. A double-double means getting double-digit numbers in two stats, like points and rebounds. He even set a MAAC record with 25 rebounds in one game against Marist College.
NCAA Tournament Experience
As a freshman, Darren was a starter for the Stags team. They played in the 1997 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. His team even led the top-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels at halftime. Although they didn't win, it was a big moment for the team. Darren earned his degree in communications from Fairfield University in 2000.
Darren Phillip's Professional Basketball Career
After college, Darren Phillip was invited to a summer camp with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2000. He wasn't offered a guaranteed contract there. So, he decided to sign a two-year contract with CB Málaga. This team is based in Málaga, Spain, and plays in Spain's top league.
Playing in Spain and the ABA
Darren played in Spain for six years with three different teams. In 2006, he joined the Strong Island Sound in the American Basketball Association. He led that league in rebounds, averaging 12.5 per game. He also had 10 double-doubles in 13 games. In December 2006, Darren went back to Spain. He played his seventh season there with CAI Zaragoza.
Five years later, in September 2011, he signed with Ford Burgos. He continued his professional career playing for various teams in different countries.

Darren Phillip is well-known as one of the best "big men" in New York City's summer basketball scene. He has won many championships and awards. These include tournaments at Hoops In the Sun in the Bronx, Nike Pro City, and EBC Rucker Park. He is known on the courts as "Primal Fear."
