Darrion Daniels, born on December 4, 1997, is a former American football player. He played as a defensive end. Today, he works as a defensive analyst for the Oregon Ducks football team.
He played college football for Oklahoma State and Nebraska. After college, he joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2020.
Playing College Football
Darrion was a highly-rated player from Bishop Dunne. He decided to play for the Oklahoma State Cowboys in 2015. In his first year, he was recognized as Oklahoma State's best new defensive player.
In 2018, Darrion moved to Nebraska. He even played alongside his brother, Damion, there. He became a team captain in 2019. He was also named an honorable mention for the All-Big Ten team.
Playing in the Pros
After the 2020 NFL draft, Darrion signed with the San Francisco 49ers. This meant he joined the team even though he wasn't picked in the draft. He was later moved to the team's practice squad. Players on the practice squad train with the team. They can be called up to play in games if needed.
Darrion was called up to play in a few games for the 49ers in 2020. He played against the Los Angeles Rams and the Washington Football Team. In 2021, he was released by the 49ers. However, he quickly rejoined their practice squad.
In 2022, Darrion signed with the Atlanta Falcons. He was later released by the team before the season started.
Later in 2022, Darrion joined the Birmingham Stallions. This team is part of the USFL, another professional football league. He helped the Stallions win the USFL championship in 2023. He left the team in December 2023.
Coaching Career
In 2024, Darrion Daniels started a new role. He was hired by the Oregon Ducks football team. He now works as a defensive analyst for them. This means he helps the coaches study opposing teams and plan defensive strategies.
