Playing Basketball
College Years
Darwin Cook played college basketball for the University of Portland. He was a key player for their team from 1976 to 1980. After his college career, he was chosen in the 1980 NBA draft. The Detroit Pistons picked him as the 70th player overall.
NBA Career Highlights
Cook's professional career in the NBA started in 1980 and lasted until 1989. He played for several well-known teams. These included the New Jersey Nets, Washington Bullets, Denver Nuggets, and San Antonio Spurs. He was known for his skills as a guard.
Playing in Italy
In 1987, Darwin Cook decided to play basketball overseas. He signed a one-year contract with a team called Scavolini Pesaro in Italy. This team was part of the Italian Serie A1 league. After playing in Italy, he returned to the NBA for one more season. He played again for the Nuggets and the Spurs. In 1989, he went back to Italy and signed another two-year contract with Scavolini. He helped his team win the Italian League championship twice, in 1988 and 1990.
Coaching Basketball
After his playing career, Darwin Cook became a basketball coach. On May 19, 2017, he was named the head coach for the University of Antelope Valley's Pioneers men's basketball team. He coached the team until 2019.
