Daryl Kevin "Razor" Reaugh (born February 13, 1965) is a former professional ice hockey goaltender. He is now a well-known broadcaster for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL). He also works for NHL on NBC and Hockey Night in Canada. Daryl played 27 games in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers and Hartford Whalers between 1985 and 1991.

Daryl Reaugh's Hockey Journey

Playing in the WHL and NHL

Daryl Reaugh started his hockey career playing for the Kamloops Blazers in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He was a fantastic All-Star goaltender there. In the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, which is like a big selection event for young players, the Edmonton Oilers picked him as the 42nd player overall.

He played only 7 games with the Oilers. Most of his six years with the team were spent in the American Hockey League (AHL), a league below the NHL. Daryl has a Stanley Cup ring from the 1988 Edmonton Oilers team. However, his name is not on the Stanley Cup itself. This is because he played only 6 games that season.

Daryl joined the Hartford Whalers in 1990. He played over 1000 minutes for them. His season was cut short because of an injury. While playing, a skate from another player cut his hand badly. A hamstring injury later ended his promising career at age 28. This happened during the 1993–94 season with the Dayton Bombers.

Becoming a Broadcaster

Before joining the Dallas Stars, Reaugh worked on a weekly hockey show called Rinkside. He also worked as a color commentator for the Hartford Whalers in 1995–96. A color commentator helps explain the game and adds interesting details.

Daryl has also worked for many other major sports channels. These include ABC, ESPN, Fox, Versus, and NBC. He even provided commentary for the EA Sports video games NHL '98 and NHL '99.

In 1996, Reaugh teamed up with Ralph Strangis for the Dallas Stars. They became a very popular broadcasting duo known as "Ralph and Razor." In 2012, they were even ranked the number one broadcasting team in the NHL.

Starting in the 2011–12 season, Reaugh also began broadcasting Western Conference games for Hockey Night in Canada. This was in addition to his work with the Dallas Stars.

After the 2014-15 season, Ralph Strangis left the Stars. Dave Strader took his place. Sadly, Strader became ill and passed away in 2017. Daryl then became the main play-by-play announcer. He worked with former Stars player Craig Ludwig.

Since the 2018-19 season, Reaugh has returned to his role as a color commentator. He now works with Josh Bogorad, who does the play-by-play. They also created "Podman Rush," which is the official podcast of the Dallas Stars. This podcast features interviews and game analysis.

Daryl is known for his unique way of speaking. He uses many descriptive words with funny timing. Fans lovingly call these his "Razorisms." For example, he uses "larceny" when a goalie makes an amazing save. He says "mastodonic" to describe a very important play. And "nectarous" means he finds a play especially exciting.

Personal Life

Daryl Reaugh spent many years growing up in Prince George, British Columbia. He is also related to former NHL player Brendan Morrison. Their wives are sisters. Daryl has two daughters. He is also known for drinking three glasses of milk every day!
