Growing Dates in Pakistan
Pakistan is one of the biggest countries that grows and sells dates around the world. Each year, Pakistan produces a huge amount of dates, about 535,000 tons! That's a lot of dates!
The main places where dates are grown in Pakistan are the Khairpur District and the Panjgur District. These areas have the right climate for date palms to thrive.
Different Kinds of Dates
Pakistan is home to many different types of date palms. There are more than 160 varieties of dates grown across the country! Each type has its own special taste and texture.
Some of the most popular kinds of dates include:
- Aseel dates, which come from Khairpur.
- Dhakki dates, grown in D.I.Khan.

Modern Date Processing
To help process all these dates, a special plant was opened in Panjgur, Pakistan, in 2022. This plant helps prepare dates for sale and export.
The United Arab Emirates helped fund this project through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. The plant is quite large, covering an area of 5,710 square meters. It can process a lot of dates, making sure they are ready for people to enjoy!
