David Bateson (born February 9, 1960) is an English actor. He is famous for being the voice of Agent 47. This character is the main hero in the Hitman video game series. David has voiced Agent 47 in all eight main games since 2000. He has both British and Danish citizenship.

Early Life and Moving Around
David Bateson was born in Durban, South Africa, on February 9, 1960. His parents were English. He grew up moving a lot between South Africa and England. He once said his family moved at least 13 times! He went to nine different schools. This made him feel a bit unsure about where he truly belonged for a while.
Becoming an Actor
David Bateson started his acting career in 1994. His first role was Hother in a film called Prince of Jutland. He also appeared in the 1996 movie Breaking the Waves. In 2002, he played the main role in a short film called Debutanten.
Voicing Agent 47
David Bateson's most well-known role is providing the voice for Agent 47. Agent 47 is the main character in the popular Hitman video game series. These games are known as stealth games, where players try to complete missions without being seen. David has not only voiced Agent 47 but also performed the motion capture for the character. This means his movements were recorded and used for the character's actions in the game.
Many fans thought Agent 47's look was based on David. However, David has said this is just a coincidence. He looks a lot like the character, but it wasn't planned!
There was a time when David was replaced for the game Hitman: Absolution. Fans were very upset about this. David later shared that he was "unceremoniously dropped" from the series. But luckily, he was hired back to voice Agent 47 before the game came out. Another actor did the motion capture for that game. David continued to voice Agent 47 in later Hitman games, including Hitman, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3.
Other Voice Roles
Besides Hitman, David Bateson has lent his voice to other projects. In 2020, he voiced a character named Virgil in an indie game called Lightmatter. This was his first video game voice role outside of the Hitman series.
He also voiced a very famous character in the Danish version of a movie! David was the voice of Bowser in the Danish dub of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023. This means he voiced the same lines that Jack Black said in the original English version. David has also worked on many Danish TV shows and narrated various commercials for Lego.
Life in Denmark
David Bateson has lived in different countries, including Canada, England, and South Africa. For a long time now, he has lived in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a Danish citizen and speaks Danish very well. He is a member of both the British and Danish actors' unions.
