David Di Michele, born on January 6, 1976, is a famous Italian football player and manager. He was known for being a great striker, which means he was good at scoring goals. He played for many Italian clubs and even spent some time playing in England for West Ham United. David also played six matches for the Italy national football team between 2005 and 2006. Most recently, he was a coach for the Serie C club Turris.

David Di Michele's Playing Career

David Di Michele had a long and exciting career playing football. He played for many different teams, scoring lots of goals.

Starting Out in Football

Di Michele began his football journey with Lodigiani in Italy. This was a team in a league called Serie C1. He played there from 1993 to 1996. After that, he moved to Foggia Calcio, a team in Serie B.

He played for Foggia for two seasons. Then, he joined Salernitana. With Salernitana, he played his first game in Italy's top league, Serie A. However, the next year, Salernitana moved down to Serie B.

Playing for Udinese

After two seasons with Salernitana, David Di Michele joined Udinese in 2001. He played one season there, then spent two seasons on loan with Reggina. In 2004, he returned to Udinese. During the 2005–06 season, he even played in the UEFA Champions League, which is a very big competition.

In a 2004–05 Coppa Italia match against Lecce, something amazing happened. Di Michele scored two goals. Later in the game, the team's goalkeeper was sent off. David stepped in to play as the goalkeeper! He even saved a penalty kick, helping Udinese win the game 5–4.

Time with Palermo

In the middle of the 2005–06 season, Di Michele moved to Palermo. He made his first appearance for Palermo in a Serie A match against Parma. In that game, he scored two goals, helping his new team win 4–2. During that season, he played 19 matches and scored seven goals for Palermo.

In March 2007, Di Michele faced a challenge. He was found to have broken a rule about betting on games. He was not allowed to play in Serie A matches for three months. He also had to pay a fine. Even though he couldn't play in official games, he was allowed to train and play in friendly matches. This helped him stay in shape.

Joining Torino and West Ham United

On July 5, 2007, Di Michele joined Torino. He signed a four-year contract with them. He played 25 games for Torino in the 2007–08 season and scored six goals.

On September 2, 2008, David went to play for West Ham United in England. This was a loan, meaning he played for them for a short time. He made his debut for West Ham on September 13, 2008. In his second game, on September 20, 2008, he scored his first goals in English football against Newcastle United. However, at the end of the season, West Ham decided not to keep him permanently.

Playing for Lecce

Di Michele signed with Lecce in January 2010. He quickly became an important player for the team. He helped Lecce win the Serie B league. In his first season back in Serie A with Lecce, he scored 8 goals in 23 games. He continued to play well, scoring 11 goals in the 2011–12 Serie A season. However, Lecce was moved down to Serie B at the end of that season.

Later Years in Football

On July 13, 2012, Di Michele moved to Chievo. In January 2013, he left Chievo and returned to his former club, Reggina. He played for Reggina for two more years. In 2015, he joined Lupa Roma, a team in Lega Pro.

International Football Career

David Di Michele also played for the Italy national football team. He played six matches for his country between 2005 and 2006. His first game for Italy was on March 30, 2005, when he was 29 years old. It was a friendly match against Iceland that ended in a 0–0 draw. His last game for Italy was on September 6, 2006, against France.

David Di Michele's Coaching Career

After retiring as a player in December 2015, David Di Michele started a new chapter as a coach.

Coaching at Lupa Roma

He first joined the staff at his last club, Lupa Roma. In April 2016, he became a joint head coach for the team. He was confirmed as the head coach for the next season. However, he was dismissed in October 2016 because of the team's results. He was then rehired a month later by new club management. He left the club at the end of the 2016–17 season.

Youth Coaching and Turris

In 2018, Di Michele became a youth coach for Frosinone. He coached their Under-17 team. He left Frosinone in July 2022. On October 25, 2022, Di Michele was hired as the new head coach for Serie C club Turris. However, he was sacked on December 23, 2022, after the team's performance did not improve.
