David James Furnish (born October 25, 1962) is a Canadian filmmaker, producer, and artist manager. He is also known as the husband of the famous English singer, Sir Elton John.

Early Life and Schooling
David Furnish was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His father, Jack Furnish, was a director at the Bristol-Myers company, and his mother's name was Gladys. He has two brothers, one older and one younger.
Furnish went to the Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute and graduated in 1981. He then earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario in 1985.
Career in Film and Music
Starting in Advertising
After finishing university, Furnish began working for an advertising company called Ogilvy & Mather in Toronto. When he was 27, he moved to the company's main office in London, England. He did very well there and became the company's youngest Director of Account Services.
Rocket Pictures and Charity Work
Today, Furnish is the co-chief of Rocket Pictures, a film company he runs with his husband, Elton John. He is also the chairman of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. In this role, he helps organize events to raise money and awareness for the charity.
Furnish has also worked as a writer for magazines like Tatler, Interview, and GQ.
Awards and Recognition
Furnish's work has earned him several awards.
- In 2015, GQ magazine named him one of the 50 best-dressed men in Britain.
- In 2019, the magazine Queerty honored him and Elton John as two of the Pride50. This award recognized them as people who work to make society more equal and accepting for everyone.
- In 2021, he and Elton John won the Artist and Manager Partnership Award for their work in both music and charity.
- In 2022, he won the Manager of the Year award at the Music Week Awards.
- In 2024, he co-directed a documentary about his husband called Elton John: Never Too Late.
Personal Life
Furnish and singer Elton John began their relationship in 1993. They entered into a civil partnership on December 21, 2005, which was the first day this was possible in England.
The couple has two sons, who were born in 2010 and 2013.
After same-sex marriage became legal in England, Furnish and John married on December 21, 2014. The date marked the ninth anniversary of their civil partnership.
