David William Huddleston (born September 17, 1930 – died August 2, 2016) was a well-known American actor. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his acting. Huddleston appeared in many movies and TV shows. Some of his most famous roles were in Blazing Saddles, Santa Claus: The Movie, and The Big Lebowski.

Early Life and Education
David Huddleston was born in Vinton, Virginia, in the United States. His parents were Ismay Hope and Lewis Melvin Huddleston.
He went to Fork Union Military Academy for high school and graduated in 1949. After high school, he served briefly as an officer in the United States Air Force. Later, he decided to study acting formally at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Acting Career Highlights
David Huddleston was mainly known as a character actor. This means he was great at playing many different kinds of interesting and unique characters.
Famous Movie Roles
One of his most memorable roles was playing Santa Claus in the 1985 movie Santa Claus: The Movie. In this film, he starred alongside Dudley Moore, who played an elf.
Huddleston also had important roles in several other popular movies:

David Huddleston was also known for appearing in television commercials for Citrus Hill orange juice during the 1980s.
Later Work and Passing
In 2009, David Huddleston appeared in a thriller movie called Locker 13. He also had a role in the 2010 Christmas special of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
David Huddleston passed away on August 2, 2016, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was 85 years old and died from heart and kidney disease.
