David Mitogo's Football Journey
Early Life and Club Career
David Mitogo was born in Bata, Equatorial Guinea. When he was only three years old, he moved to Spain. He started playing football at a young age with a club called CD La Morenica.
Later, he joined SD Ponferradina as a cadet, which is a youth team. He wasn't happy there at first, so he went back to his old team. But when he was 16, David returned to Ponferradina to finish his training. He began his adult career playing for their reserve team in the fourth division of Spanish football.
Making His Mark at Ponferradina
On September 20, 2009, when David was 19, he played his first game for Ponferradina's main team. It was a third-level match against SD Eibar. He scored the only goal in that game, helping his team win!
Even though he mostly played for the reserve team, he played in six more games for the first team. That season, Ponferradina was promoted to the second division, which was a big achievement.
Overcoming Injuries
Playing football can be tough on the body. On October 24, 2010, while playing for Ponferradina B, David suffered a serious injury. He tore a ligament in his left knee. This injury kept him off the field for six months while he recovered.
Playing for His Country
David Mitogo also had the chance to play for his country, Equatorial Guinea.
Youth International Matches
In April 2010, David was called to play for Equatorial Guinea's national under-20 team. He played in a match against Gabon as part of the qualifiers for the 2011 African Youth Championship. He scored Equatorial Guinea's goal in that game, which ended in a 1–1 tie.
Senior National Team Debut
A few months later, in July 2010, David received his first call-up to the senior national team. He played in a friendly match against Morocco on August 11. He came into the game as a substitute in the 67th minute, showing his talent on the international stage.
David's Family Background
