David Neilson (born 13 March 1949) is an English actor. He is famous for playing Roy Cropper in the long-running TV show Coronation Street. He has been on the show since 1995, playing a cafe owner.

Growing Up and Starting Out
David Neilson was born in Loughborough, a town in Leicestershire, England. When he was 20, he went to the Central School of Speech and Drama. This is a special school where people learn to act. While studying, he worked many different jobs. He was a gas fitter, an ice cream seller, and even a barman.
Acting Career
David Neilson has acted in many TV shows. Some of these include Z-Cars, Survivors, and Heartbeat. He also appeared for a short time in EastEnders in the early 1990s.
He has also been in two movies directed by Mike Leigh. These films are Life Is Sweet and Secrets & Lies. On the radio, he acted in a romantic comedy called God Bless Our Love in 2009.
