Farming was very important from the start. Davidson once had five cotton gins and three grain elevators. These places processed cotton and stored grain. Over time, the town had many services. These included movie theaters, newspapers, and bakeries.
However, the number of people living in Davidson slowly went down. Many businesses closed over the years. Farming is still the main way people make a living there. One grain elevator is still open today. In 1995, the town had a small flood.
